    Mr P Johnson

    Executive Principal

    Mr Johnson joined North Liverpool Academy in March 2026.  With a strong focus on Maths, leadership and management, he has successfully led some of the highest performing schools in the UK and worked within large Trusts such as Star Academies.

  • Mrs A Cawood

    Mrs A Cawood

    Vice Principal – Behaviour and Inclusion

    Mrs Cawood joined North Liverpool Academy in 2024 and she leads the strategic priorities of attendance, behaviour and inclusion across the academy. She has thirty years’ experience of working in a variety of schools across the North West of England, and has been working in Liverpool for 5 years.

    Mrs D Platt

    Vice Principal - Academic Development

    Mrs Platt joined North Liverpool Academy in October 2025 and she leads the strategic priorities of curriculum, teaching, learning and quality assurance across the school. She has thirty years’ experience of working in a variety of schools and as a previous His Majesty's Inspector across the North West of England.

    Mrs H Darlington

    Assistant Principal - Curriculum and Organisation

    Mrs Darlington is a Geography and Travel and Tourism teacher who joined NLA in 2013. She is the Quality Nominee for all BTECs, taking the lead for all of the vocational qualifications as well as leading on our ever-developing curriculum across the school.

    Mrs K Johnston

    Assistant Principal - Development and Learning

    Mrs Johnston has worked at NLA since 2009 as a member and leader of the MFL department. She is now our strategic leader for Key Stage 3 on our strategic priority and the NLA Scholars Programme. Mrs Johnston also focusses on the transition from primary to secondary as well as tracking the progress in Key Stage 3 in preparation for Key Stage 4.

    Head of Sixth Form

    Mr Johnston has worked at NLA since 2016 as a member of the Business Studies team. He joined the sixth form team in 2022 and has more recently taken over the role as Head of Sixth Form. He strategically leads the curriculum and extra-curricular provision as well as the pastoral support for all KS5 students.

  • Miss Beechey

    Miss Beechey

    Assistant Principal - Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

    Miss Beechey joined North Liverpool Academy in September 2026. She is the academy’s Designated Safeguarding Lead, with responsibility for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all pupils. Alongside her safeguarding role, she also leads on attendance, admissions, looked-after children and educational visits. Miss Beechey has worked in education in Liverpool since 2017 and has gained valuable experience across a range of key stages.

  • Ms C McKendrick

    Ms C McKendrick

    Assistant Principal - Behaviour and Pastoral Standards

    Ms McKendrick is Assistant Principal responsible for leading Behaviour and Pastoral Standards across the school. With more than 24 years of experience in education and 13 years in leadership roles across multiple schools, she has a strong track record of driving improvement and developing positive school cultures. Originally a Spanish teacher, she has worked in a range of schools across the city, gaining valuable insight into the diverse needs of students and communities. She is dedicated to maintaining high standards, supporting student wellbeing and ensuring that every young person has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially and personally. Ms McKendrick is passionate about creating an environment where students feel supported, challenged and empowered to achieve their full potential.

    Assistant Principal - Community and Enrichment

    Mrs Senior joined North Liverpool Academy in 2011 as part of the performing arts department. With many years spent leading the Creatives faculty, Mrs Senior has worked with our students to put on the best and most creative shows, showcasing the many talents of our students. As part of the senior leadership team, she is responsible for the strategic priorities of community and enrichment at NLA.

  • Mrs E Van Deventer

    Mrs E Van Deventer

    Assistant Principal - Assessment and Academic Standards

    Mrs Van Deventer has been a key part of our school community since 2015, when she joined us as Curriculum Leader for Mathematics, a role in which she led the department to achieve great improvements in student results. In her new leadership role, she is focused on ensuring every child receives the right balance of support and challenge to reach their full potential. She will be working behind the scenes to streamline how we track progress, report on learning, and share meaningful feedback with students and parents. Mrs Van Deventer is passionate about keeping our academic standards high while making sure every child’s hard work and growth are recognised every step of the way.

    PA to the Principal

    Mrs Davies joined our school in 2013 as a member of the Reception team and has since advanced to become the senior member of the administrative support team. She supports the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), in addition to overseeing the daily operations of our administrative team.

    Mrs V Hammond

    SENDCo

    Mrs Hammond joined North Liverpool Academy in April 2025 as the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo). She began her teaching career as a Geography specialist and has gained valuable experience working in schools across Enfield and Cheshire. Over the past four years, Mrs Hammond has developed her expertise in supporting students with additional needs and holds the National Award for SEN Coordination. In her role, she leads the provision for students with special educational needs and disabilities, working closely with staff, families, and external agencies to ensure that every student receives the support required to succeed. Mrs Hammond is committed to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive and achieve their full potential.
