North Liverpool Academy's House System has recently seen a significant reinvigoration. We are pleased to formally relaunch our house competitions, designed to strengthen the school community and boost student involvement.
House Captains
A key part of this renewal is the focus on developing social responsibility and civic virtue. We have successfully recruited five House Captains from each year group.
The application process was thorough: students submitted letters detailing their current involvement outside of lessons, along with clear plans for their time in the post. These captains are now responsible for leading house participation and essential community fundraising efforts.
The NLA Lambanana
Our school lambanana, a recognised Academy landmark, has been updated. We ran a school-wide competition for students to redesign the sculpture, incorporating the colours and emblems of the five houses.
Jesse Xu submitted the winning design, that our art students brought to life during the summer school.
This new house lambanana, named “Jesse,” is now proudly displayed in the school foyer, celebrating our students' creativity.
What Does it Mean to be Part of a House?
Belonging to an NLA House offers students a vital structure for growth within the Academy. It gives you the chance to:
- Develop Leadership Skills: By taking on roles or actively contributing to house activities.
- Encourage Collaboration: Work with fellow students from different year groups.
- Practice Civic Virtue: Get involved in charity and community-focused projects.
- Contribute to Achievement: Earn points through effort, attendance, and taking part in various competitions.
Current Standings
The race for the NLA House Trophy is extremely close. We currently have a tie between Redmond and McGough.
The eventual winner will be decided by this term’s results in attendance and punctuality. The final points total will reflect the commitment of all house members, so every lesson counts.
Upcoming Competitions and fundraising
- Curriculum Competitions: Every subject area will now hold one house competition per term.
- Charity Fundraising: House Captains will manage fundraising for local charities that the House Leads are selecting.
- Children in Need Initiative: Our 24-hour Just Dance event will have a linked GoFundMe page. The house that raises the most money will receive the maximum points available.
- House Celebration Assemblies: Our first celebration assemblies of the year will take place during the first week back after half term.
We are incredibly excited about the energy and commitment already shown by students and House Captains across our school. With new competitions scheduled in every subject and major fundraising events on the calendar, there are more opportunities than ever to contribute to your House.
Get ready to show your spirit and make a difference. We look forward to seeing your House take the lead in the competitions ahead.
