Over the past four weeks, students have taken part in a rigorous and highly competitive selection process. This included interviews, staff and student voting, and year group assemblies, where candidates confidently shared their visions for the school. All students involved demonstrated exceptional commitment, leadership and resilience throughout each stage and should be extremely proud of their efforts.

We would like to congratulate our newly formed Senior Student Leadership Team and extend a sincere thank you to all applicants who took part in this demanding process. The standard was incredibly high, making selection a challenging task.

Our new Senior Student Leadership Team will work closely with Mr Peacock, the Sixth Form Leadership Team, and the School Council to listen to student voices and help suggest meaningful and positive changes across the academy.

Empowering Student Voices: Meet This Year's Sixth Form Leadership Team

This newly established team will play a vital role in representing the voice of our Sixth Form students and shaping the future of Sixth Form life.

The Student Leadership Team will meet bi-weekly and work closely with the Head of Sixth Form, providing regular feedback on student views, ideas and priorities. Acting as a key link between students, staff and senior leadership, the team will ensure that student voices are heard and valued. Throughout the year, the team will take the lead on organising and supporting a range of important initiatives and events, including:

  • Selecting and supporting chosen charities
  • Planning Year 13 leavers’ celebrations
  • Contributing to school events
  • Arrange visits to careers fairs and universities

In addition, the team will actively discuss and develop suggestions aimed at improving student wellbeing, academic success, and the overall Sixth Form experience.

Their work will help to ensure that Sixth Form students feel supported, informed and empowered during their time at North Liverpool Academy.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact the Sixth Form Student Leadership Team will have on our community this year.

Students Experience Reconstructive Surgery Masterclass

In November, our aspiring medical students visited Liverpool Life Sciences UTC for a masterclass delivered by Mr Tim Blackburn, an NHS Consultant in the Department of Maxillo-Facial and Facial Plastic Surgery at Manchester Royal Infirmary, where he served as Clinical Director from 2013–2017.

Tim discussed reconstructive surgery following cancer treatment, illustrating his talk with the clinical histories of several patients. He also highlighted the use of computer analysis and modelling in his work, making the session engaging for students considering careers in medicine, healthcare or computer science.

The remarkable success of Tim’s team provided a fascinating insight into how clinical strategies are chosen to meet patients’ desired outcomes. Following the masterclass, Tim stayed to answer questions, praising the high standard of our students’ questions.

Attending this session gave NLA students a unique opportunity to see how classroom knowledge translates into real-world medical practice. They gained insight into the role of technology in patient care, observed how clinical decisions are tailored to individual needs, and were inspired by the teamwork and innovation that underpin success in healthcare.

UCAS Applications Update

We would like to remind students that the UCAS deadline for all submissions is Wednesday 14th January 2026.

We've already seen a strong number of early entry applications. These include highly competitive courses and institutions such as Oxbridge, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, and Dentistry.

Students applying through the early entry route have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment. This rigorous process involves multiple stages, including entry examinations, personal statements, and interviews, all of which require a high level of preparation and resilience.

The Sixth Form Team has been working closely with students to support them at every stage of their application journey. This support has included:

  • Personal statement guidance and checking
  • Specialist entry exam preparation for UCAT, MAT, TMUA, ESAT, and LNAT, delivered by subject specialists
  • Mock interviews to help students build confidence and refine their responses

We are especially proud to share that students have already secured seven Oxbridge interview invitations, highlighting the success of the support in place and the high aspirations of our Sixth Form students. We would like to congratulate all students who have taken part in the early application process – your hard work and determination are commendable.
